JP McManus is the only Irishman among the world’s 100 highest earning traders.
Dominated by New York and London-based dealmakers, the list is topped by Houston-based natural gas trader John Arnold who made up to €1.5bn.
Trader Monthly magazine ranks McManus at number 71, with an estimated income of up to €75m from foreign exchange deals through Cubic Expressions. The profits have rocketed since 2004 when he made an estimated €25m through the firm, where his partner is fellow racing tycoon, John Magnier.
Scores of fellow gamblers will this week be tracking McManus’s equine investments, including Irish Grand National Winner Butler’s Cabin, who runs in the Punchestown Festival this week.
